ICC stickers for motorists

LAOAG CITY, October 9 –The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here in celebration of the Consumers Welfare Month this October is in the process of inspecting and issuing of Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers for motorcycle helmets.

The issuance of ICC stickers is part of the accreditation of all motor helmets in compliance with Section 6 of Republic Act 10054 otherwise known as the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.

The law mandates DTI to determine the quality of helmets in the market to curb the increasing number of accidents due to substandard protective gears.
“The inspection and distribution of ICC stickers will continue until December 31, we also scheduled mobile issuance of ICC stickers for helmets to National Tobacco Administration employees” Remedios Sasutil, officer-in-charge of Consumers Welfare Division said.
The Consumers Welfare Month celebration aims to promote awareness of both public and private sector on complaints and policies affecting consumer and encourage dialogue and cooperation among consumers, business and government.

As part of the celebration, DTI is also conducting consumerism lectures to the different high schools and municipalities in the province.
