LAOAG CITY (Dec. 7) – GLEDCO (Government of Laoag Employees Development Cooperative) is offering its services to collect the garbage materials of all city residents here, Mayor Chevylle Farinas said.

GLEDCO, the flourishing employees-run cooperative in Laoag, has been a long partner of  the city government in terms of quality various services.

Presently, it engages in a laundry, van rental, lending, as well as investments in gasoline stations, mineral water refilling stations, grocery store, pharmacy and several other business ventures.

The said proposal on garbage collection was raised during a dialogue called by Mayor Farinas and attended by GLEDCO officials and barangay officials of Brgy. Lagui-Sail, where the present garbage dump site is situated.

During the meeting, a new design for a modern sanitary landfill was presented in which GLEDCO offered its services to build the project and manage it as a private entity.

City accountant Edgar Pascual, a ranking GLEDCO official, said that the construction of the redesigned sanitary landfill may only take about two months to finish it.
