Four new cases of chikungunya recorded in Pagudpud

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 8) – At least four local residents here have been tested positive of chikungunya virus, Pagudpud Mayor Marlon Sales confirmed.

Sales said that the four are among the eight patients who had a blood sample taken recently.

It was learned that the Provincial Health Office had recorded at least 164 chikungunya cases since August of this year.

Mayor Sales said that those infected with said virus came from different barangays in their town.

The mayor said that he has called an emergency meeting attended by all barangay officials, barangay health workers, members of Municipal Health Office and Provincial Health Office in order to stop the spread of the disease. (tsg)
