DOST scholar dreams high, ranks top 2 in engineers’ board exams

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This was shared by Engr. William M. Noces, former scholar of the Department of Science and Technology  1 (DOST).

According to Engr. Noces, this served as his guiding belief in the challenges that confronted him throughout his life.

Raised in a simple lifestyle in his native town of Alipangpang, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, Engr. Noces narrated the struggles of his family. “My father is a farmer. We are eight siblings and I am the only one who studied in college because of financial difficulties,” he said.

Describing himself as a religious and hardworking person, young Engr. Noces had his hopes and dreams in life. After his high school graduation in 2011, he enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the Pangasinan State University–Urdaneta Campus.

He applied then, for scholarship program of the DOST under Republic Act 7687.

With his scholarship, he was able to finish his schooling. “I am very grateful for being a DOST scholar,” he claimed.

Engr. Noces was very active during his college days. “I joined and represented my campus in several extra-curricular activities such as Natural Science and Mathematics Quiz Bee, Regional Math Wizard, Regional Quiz Show and National Math wizard,” he said.

He also became an active member of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc., Baguio-Benguet Chapter in Baguio City for three years.

When asked about what advice he can give to the ongoing DOST scholars, William said, “ I would like to tell them that they must always have a dream and have importance in what they want to pursue. Being a DOST scholar is already an achievement.”

After graduation, William has made a significant mark in the recent Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination. William harbored his dream of becoming an engineer. As a result of the September 2016, he ranked top 2 in the board exams with a rating of 91.10%.

Similarly, he landed as top 10 in the Master Electrician Examination on September 4, 2016.

“Achieving success always depends on you. Indeed, I am dedicating this achievement to my family,” he said.

At present, Engr.Noces volunteers himself at the Dream Force Review Center in Baguio City where he took his review before.

“I look at this work as an obligation to repay gratitude because I did not pay anything during my review. at Dream Force. “Isa ’tong pagtanaw ng utang na loob,” he said.

He also revealed that he plans to work at the National Grid Corporation or San Miguel Power Corporation to fulfill his dream into reality.

“My hope is for all DOST scholars to follow their career path. I believe DOST is willing to help in pursuing their goals in life,” he ended. (Monette H. Herrera)
