City gov’t eyes P600M budget for 2015

LAOAG CITY—The city government has proposed an estimated P600 million annual budget for the coming 2015, officials reported.

Laoag Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas said that the estimated figure was based on the preliminary hearings for next year’s proposed annual budget. The figure is not yet final, she said.

She said that unlike previous practice of holding out-of-town hearing, this year’s final budget hearing may be held within the city, adding that this would save the city government from spending much travel time and money.

For this year 2014, the city is currently operating with the approved annual budget of more than P400 million.

The finance committee reported that there is an expected increase of the city’s internal revenue allotment (IRA) share for next year by P40 million. (Theo S. Guiang)
