Capitol Express 2.0 to focus on agricultural development

With its goal to intensify efforts on agricultural development in Ilocos Norte, Manang Imee’s Capitol Express will introduce its newest project ‘Paspas Dur-as Biag ti Away!’ on November 5, 2015.

Manang Imee’s Capitol Express (CapEx) was launched by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) in July 2013 to make its frontline services more accessible to the people.

Edwin Cariño, Head of PGIN’s Millennium Development Goals Office, said that the project will focus on agricultural undertakings especially at the grassroots level.

“The program will be launched as Manang Imee’s Capitol Express part two (CapEx 2.0). For the whole month of November, we will be conducting various activities including planting, harvesting and applying fertilizers to different crops,” Mr. Cariño explained.

“What makes these activities unique is the actual participation of Governor Imee Marcos. She really wants our local farmers to experience agricultural transformation,” he added.

‘Paspas Dur-as Biag ti Away!’ (rapid development in the rural areas) aims to provide further agricultural support including distribution of seeds, machineries and facilities to Ilocano farmers.

In an interview, Governor Imee Marcos stressed the importance of immediately redesigning agriculture strategies in order to adapt to climate change.
“We really have to focus on agriculture because the environment is changing. We need to urgently re-plan everything in our agriculture. ‘Paspas Dur-as Biag ti Away!’ will make a great support to this pressing need,” she said. (PGIN-CMO)
