An international call center company is set to expand business activities in Ilocos Norte to support the province’s efforts to become an Information Technology–Business Process Management destination.
A major IT-BPM provider, Expert Global Solutions (EGS) cites the availability of quality talent and supportive local government as the major factors contributing to its decision to set up a contact center in the province, particularly in Laoag City.
A holding company to two global leaders in business process outsourcing, EGS will become the first major IT-BPM provider to set up in the province.
It will open at least 600 jobs for call center agents and management personnel. Priority recruits are Ilocos Norte residents for the job openings. Ilocanos working in their other call center companies are encouraged to come home to the province to avail of this new job openings.
To date, the EGS staff with the help of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte’s flagship program for job creation, “Task Force Trabaho”, had already hired at least 63 applicants. They will undergo training, with pay, at the company’s branch in Clark, Pampanga.
With job creation as one of her agenda, Gov. Imee Marcos has been aggressively promoting the province as an investment site for BPOs.
“Here, we don’t talk quantity but prefer to talk about quality. The real product of Ilocos Norte is its people who have interest in the new world of digital media. Our abundance of talent in Ilocos Norte can help drive the IT-BPM industry and the services industry to new heights” Governor Marcos said during the recent IT-BPM Roadshow.
On that occasion, it awarded Metro Laoag as best in IT-BPM Infrastructure by DOST and a premier Next Wave City or an alternative IT-BPM destination to Metro Manila and Metro Cebu.
The coming of EGS in Laoag is the result of various initiatives by the PGIN and the Metro Ilocos Norte ICT Council (MINICTC) which is composed of representatives from various government agencies, private organizations, and educational institutions in the province.
