Batac’s 6th Farmer’s Festival set on May 1-7

BATAC CITY – The city government of Batac is set to hold the 6th Farmer’s Festival on May 1-7, 2014.

With this year’s theme “High Value Crops Adaptaren Para iti Narang-ay a Pamilya ni Mannalon”, the festival aims to encourage farmers to adapt and plant more high value crops for higher productivity and profitability.

City Mayor Jeffrey Nalupta said that a Thanksgiving Mass will usher in the weeklong activities. The main celebration will commence at the Imelda Cultural Center.

The first day is also the formal opening of the agricultural booths and exhibits, he added.

He said the Search for the Best Decorated Carabao will be held on May 2. It will one of the main attractions. The farmers will paint their carabaos with bright colors during the search.

The grand parade featuring different floats will be held on May 6 as part of the event highlights. (Theo S. Guiang)
