Batac cops undergo random drug test

BATAC, Ilocos Norte (May 20) — The Batac Police Station conducted a random drug testing on the first batch composed of 20 policemen Friday morning.

Supt. Virgilio Pascua. Chief of Police, said the policemen who were subjected to random drug testing were asked that their urine be taken at the police station.

The order was implemented by Supt. Pascua as per order by Napolcom Memo Circular No. 99-008, which requires all PNP personnel to undergo drug test.

This is part of the PNP’s campaign to remove all scalawags from the police service.

He added that those who will be found positive for using illegal drugs will be charged administratively and will be dismissed from the service.

The drug testing was conducted by the SOCO Crime Laboratory based at Cam Juan, Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office to ensure the independence and impartiality of the results.

It was learned that in the entire Ilocos Norte, Batac police station was the first to conduct the drug testing of its personnel. (tsg)
