LAOAG CITY, October 7– A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck near the northern town of Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte at 11:14 am Sunday sending residents out of their homes here.
Based on the bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the tremor was located 30 kilometers northeast of Pagudpud.
The tremor, which was of tectonic type, was felt at intensity 5 in Sarrat in Ilocos Norte; intensity 4 in Batac City Ilocos Norte, Buguey in Cagayan and Sinait in Ilocos Sur; intensity 3 in Tuguegarao in Cagayan and intensity 2 in Burgos in Ilocos Sur.
No damages was immediately reported.
It was the third strong tremor that rocked the Philippines in two days following strong earthquakes that hit Saranggani, Davao del Sur on October 5 with a magnitude 5.1 and Surigaodel Norte on October 4 with a magnitude 5.3. (C. Arzadon/PIA)
