2 tobacco traders killed in ambush

CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte, June 6– Norberto Arce and his driver Felmar Agdeppa were shot and killed in an ambush staged at dawn by gunmen riding in tandem at Brgy. San Simeon, this town, lawmen reported. 

Arce, native of Vigan City, died on the spot while Agdeppa of Sinait, Ilocos Sur expired upon arrival at the MMMHospital in Batac City.

Bloodied Felmar managed to text their boss in Sinait identified as Nick Acosta that he and Arce were ambushed before rescuers arrived.

Police said the duo were on their way home aboard a red owner-type jeep at about 2 a.m. after selling their tobacco products in Batac City when the gunmen aboard a black TMX motorcycle waylaid the victims.

PNP SOCO team found eight empty shells for bullets of caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Investigators were looking into the holdup-robbery angle as motive of the ambush-slay.

The victims’ clutch bag containing more than P400,000 cash in their possession as payment of their tobacco products was missing and could have been looted by the assailants, police said.

Meanwhile, S/S Antonio Mendoza Jr., PNP provincial director, said latest report showed that at least four suspects riding in two separate motorcycles staged the ambush based on the CCTV camera footage gathered by Currimao police investigators.(With reports from tri-media)
