Let’s end SSS veto impasse, work together to look for win-win solution—Marcos

SENATOR Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. today called for an end in the impasse created as a result of the veto of the increase in the Social Security System (SSS) monthly pension saying both branches of government should now move forward to find alternative ways to look for a win-win solution to the issue.

Marcos said the more viable solution is for the legislative and executive branches to work together and set aside politics rather than overriding the veto of the President.

He added the controversy should serve as a lesson to the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) to improve its coordination mechanisms to prevent the same incident from happening in the future.

“This should be a wake-up call for the PLLO which plays a crucial role in making sure that the President and the legislators in both Houses of Congress have proper coordination through proper communication and information dissemination. All these controversy would not have happened if both branches have been properly guided by the PLLO,” Marcos said.

The PLLO, which is under the Office of the President, has been created to liaise with both Houses of Congress on all matters relating to legislation to ensure that “(t)he Executive and Legislative Branches of government (work) together in a harmonious, collaborative and transparent environment for the attainment of goals beneficial to the greater majority of the Filipino people.”

Marcos said SSS should try harder to improve its collection and improve its management strategies.
