With its goal to provide a world-class quality service to its clienteles, the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of (SDO) Laoag City aims to align its processes to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015.

The said standard requires an organization to enhance customer satisfaction through effective and efficient application of its system and processes.

In order to realize this, 30 SDO Laoag City personnel led by OIC Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Joel B. Lopez underwent a seminar workshop on Quality Management System (QMS) Installation at Hotelinda Suites, Vigan City on July 11-15, 2017.

“On December 15, 2017, we are going to receive our ISO-Certification… If that will happen, we will be the first SDO in Region 1 to be given that certificate,” Lopez said.

Lopez said the main goal is for the whole SDO system to provide excellent service such that client should feel delighted after given the service he needs.

“Dapat serbisyong maaasahan. Kapag ang kliyente natin umalis sa SDO, dapat naramdaman niya ang gaan ng kalooban…at masasabi nating nagampanan natin ang dapat na serbisyo na ibinigay sa kanila,” he said.

The participants first defined their key market, services, and target unique manner of delivering the services leading to the formulation of the SDO’s Quality Policy (QP).

The QP states SDO Laoag’s commitment to become responsive, transparent and accountable in providing localized policies, contextualized curriculum, educational support and other services.

A Quality Management Team was also created to ensure the success of the overall process including the creation of a quality manual and document control.

Committing to make SDO Laoag City the premier schools division in the country in terms of implementing responsive curriculum, exemplifying good governance and providing world-class public service, the participants were encouraged to work collaboratively in their journey towards ISO-Certification.

“We keep on improving our processes to be able to provide the services that (all our clients) deserve, (an excellent service) that is in line with our continuous improvement scheme. (We can do it as long as) we journey together,” Lopez affirmed. (Jennifer T. Pambid)
