Batac City distributes farm equipment and machineries to farmers

BATAC CITY, June 30 (PIA) – In an effort to improve the crop production of farmers in this city, the City of Batac under the administration of Mayor Albert Chua has turned over to them some farm equipment and machineries worth more than P40 million through the Zanjera Irrigators Association.

Mayor Chua said that these equipment and machineries, funded under the Republic Act 7171 or the “Tobacco Excise” Tax, are a major help especially in reducing the cost of production while maintaining good quality of agricultural products.

City agriculturist Merryline T. Gappi said that the beneficiaries received 40 pieces shallow tube well, 40 units electric pump, 160 pieces of irrigation hose, 40 pieces thresher, and 40 pieces of wagon.

Gappi added that the equipment were given to the farmers through the duly registered Zanjera Irrigators Association. These will also serve as an income generating project of every Sanjera since members can rent these machineries with a minimal fee,” Gappi said.

The program, which was held in front of the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac, was one of the highlights of the celebration of the city’s 10th Charter Day celebration on June 22. (TSG)
