Priests and nuns were shocked to learn that a young sacristan allegedly hanged himself in the convent room of the Our Lady of Lourdes parish church in Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur, a Sept. 9 police report said.
P/Lt. Melvin Trinidad, chief of the Banayoyo PNP station, reported that the victim used a belt in hanging himself inside the convent room at 7 o’clock in the evening.
A girlfriend told investigators that suspected depression apparently drove the victim to end his life.
The victim, a native of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, worked in the convent, and at the same time, he attended online classes in the school at San Fernando, La Union, investigators said. (tri-media report)
