P15M fund allotted for Batac public market improvement project

BATAC CITY—The city government of Batac has allotted at least P15 million fund for the improvement project of its public market, City Mayor Albert D. Chua announced during an interview with media men recently.

He said that the local finance committee has already affirmed the availability of funds for the market improvement.

Mayor Chua added that he has already received the program of works of the said project.

Under the program of works, the improvement includes a proposed façade, replacement of roofing and rehabilitation of trusses of the meat and fish section building with an allocated amount of PHP3,017,000; replacement of roofing of the meat and fish section, PHP1.6 million; relocation of the eateries section, PHP2 million; construction of tables and flooring for the meat and fish section, PHP2.5 million; installation of ceiling spandrel at the ground floor of the market building, PHP2,290,500; secondary roofing at the market main building, PHP2,665,600; and the provision of louver and natural light vent at the northern part of the market main building, PHP1,325,900.00.

Mayor Chua said that his office had received numerous complaints regarding the present condition of the market both from the stall owners and the buying public.

The construction will start soon after completion of the public bidding of the project, he added.

He said the city government had already begun improving the lighting system around the public market so that the traders could deliver their products even during night time.

Reacting to this announced project, many stall owners and market-goers have expressed in advance their appreciation and gratitude to Mayor Chua for implementing another laudable project that redounds for the general welfare of his constituents. (tri-media report)
