Boy fatally falls on a protruding cut tree branch

BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, Nov. 13, 2020–A 10-year-old boy died after he fell on a protruding cut “ipil-ipil” tree in a freak accident at Brgy. Tubburan, this town, police reported.

P/Lt. Melvin Trinidad, the town deputy police chief, said the victim was rushed to the Bacarra Medical Center but he was transferred to the GRBASMHospital in Laoag City where he expired while being treated by attending doctors.

Investigation showed that the victim climbed a papaya tree before lunchtime to pick unripened fruits for their home “tinola” recipe.

The victim apparently lost grip on the rain-soaked slippery trunk and fell to the ground.

Unfortunately, his left chest hit the protruding branch which caused the fatal wound. (tri-media report)
