A fugitive for 15 years nabbed in Las Piñas

CAMP JUAN, Laoag City, April 5– The No. 7 most wanted person in Ilocos Norte was arrested in Las Pinas City, National Capital Region, police authorities here reported.

Col. Cesar Pasiwen, police provincial director, said that the fugitive wanted for six counts of rape was apprehended by joint operatives of the INPPO and NCRPO. He did not resist arrest.

Ariston (not his real name), after the incident, went into hiding for 15 years in Las Pinas City where he later worked as a backhoe operator of a construction firm, the report said.

Records showed that the man was accused of allegedly raping a minor girl aged 13 in 2004 when he was still 19 years old. The girl later got pregnant.
When interviewed by local newsmen here, the accused denied the rape charges saying that he and the victim had a relationship.

However, the girl’s parents contradicted his allegation for the reason that both the accused and the victim were cousins.

Meanwhile, the P90,000 reward money for any information leading to his arrest would now be given to the informant who tipped off the hiding place of the accused, the lawmen said. (tri-media report)
