VP BINAY TO ASSUME DUTIES AS PDP LABAN PRESIDENT

PDP-Laban Secretary General Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. has confirmed that Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, who is also PDP Laban Chairman, has accepted the party’s request for him to take over the duties of Senator Koko Pimentel as PDP Laban President.

“We will leave the position (of Party President) as it is but Vice President Binay will assume the duties of Koko,” Cojuangco explained.

“We are thankful that the Vice President has accepted this arrangement since Koko cannot attend to the party’s commitment to UNA in the agreement with PMP which he himself signed,” he added.

Cojuangco also said Vice President Binay put a stop to moves to oust Pimentel.

“In fairness to the Vice President, he did not accept this suggestion and said the decision must come first from Koko,” Cojuangco said. The officers then requested that if Pimentel refuses to go on leave, that Binay should take over Pimentel’s duties as party president.

“Under the leadership of our chairman, Vice President Binay, we are stronger than ever and remain united and strong,” Cojuangco said.

“While the Vice President remains busy with his governmental duties, he laid out clear instructions for party members to continue all efforts to make our party stronger across the nation,” Cojuangco added. #
