OVP, NDCP TO HOST CYBER SECURITY FORUM

Citing the need to gather key players in cyber security in order to create awareness on various challenges and opportunities in cyber technology, Vice President Jejomar C. Binay today announced the convening of a forum entitled “Securing a Whole Wired World: A Forum on Cyber Security Awareness and Collaboration” on Wednesday, 26 October 2011, 8:30a.m-5:00p.m. at the NDCP Honor Hall, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Quezon City.

The forum is organized by the Office of the Vice President, in partnership with the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) and the NDCP Alumni Association, Inc. (NDCPAAI).

“The Philippines, despite being an emerging country in computer and cyber technology, is not shielded from acts of cyber terrorism and cyber war,” Binay said.

“There is a need for an increased awareness of the national and global perspectives on evolving nature of cyber crimes and how to manage and deal with them,” he added.

The forum will feature resource persons from the public and private sectors to tackle cyber security issues from theory to practice.

Over 150 participants are expected to attend the forum including representatives from various government agencies, private sector, civil society, and the academe.
