BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, April 20 — Rodolfo Christian Fariñas III, son of Ilocos Norte Congressman Rodolfo C. Fariñas, has filed his Certificate of Candidacy for barangay chairman in Brgy. Buyon, this town in connection with the forthcoming May polls for Barangay and SK officials, the local Comelec office here said.
It said the young Fariñas declared in his CoC that he is a resident of said barangay for the past one year and five months.
Yesterday, incumbent Buyon’s Brgy. Chairman Joel Delim had quit from his post and also withdrew his CoC for re-election bid, the local Comelec added.
It explained that Delim’s resignation letter was approved by Mayor Nico dela Cruz, his supervisor.
No. 1 councilman Domingo Calma replaced Delim by the law of succession.
Calma, who also filed earlier his CoC for barangay chairman, told reporters that he was advised not to withdraw his candidacy. (tri-media report)
