LAOAG CITY, Dec. 21 (PIA) — In line with the continuing campaign on “Sulit sa SSS”, the local offices of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and Social Security System (SSS) in Ilocos Norte held an information caravan for graduating college students here recently.

In partnership with the Robinsons Land Corporation, the Robinsons Mall in San Nicolas became jam-packed with students from various universities and colleges who are potential members of the SSS.

This event, aimed to create wider awareness of the services and programs of the insurance program, was centered on informing the students the importance of social security and to further strengthen SSS as a viable social security institution.

Before the opening program, the students voluntarily registered as members of SSS and were given SSS numbers.

“The SSS number assigned to them is a lifetime number which will be used in all their transactions with the SSS,” Aniceta Bueno, branch head of SSS Ilocos Norte, said.

Apart from the SSS briefing, PIA Ilocos Norte head Cherry Garma discussed basic information on the mandates and services of the agency.

Some participating senior students expressed their appreciation on the event.

“Talagang makakatulong po talaga sa amin itong mga nalaman namin ngayong araw dahil nalaman namin na secured ang future namin with SSS,” Dannah Ace Ubay of Northwestern University said.

This year, PIA has conducted series of activities for the massive information campaign on the tie-up project with SSS titled “Sulit sa SSS.”

“Pagkatapos ng activity na ito, inaasahan namin na makita at maisip nila na trusted kaming institution para sa kanilang future,” Bueno ended. (Ma. Joreina Therese A. Blanco/PIA Ilocos Norte)
