LAOAG CITY (PIA) – A larger allocation of the P778 million annual budget of Laoag City will prioritize health benefits and construction projects for 2018.

According to Mayor Chevylle Fariñas, the city has an annual fund with a total of P778,726,526.44
Prior to the finalization of the budget, a month-long deliberation and consultations were made to ensure that all sectors of the local government are given to better perform in public service.

“We have prepared the budget after a thorough deliberation with all the concerned offices to make it an effective tool for allocating equitably the limited resources of government to the different sectors,” the city mayor said.

The Laoag City General Hospital has an allocation of P131,034,521.90 which holds the largest financial plan for this year. The expected expenditure shall be given in upgrading health equipment and in giving benefits to the locals.

Second largest allocation goes to the City Engineering Office with P79,961,327.31 and the Mayor’s Office with P71,969,875.36

Other shares are also given to city cemetery, city administrator, City Development Plan, and the Special Program for the Employment of Students.

The city mayor hopes that this budget will be put into use and not into someone’s pockets.
The 2018 Budget is a P31M increase to the previous year’s fund of P747,185,530.33 (Ma. Joreina Therese A. Blanco/PIA-1, Ilocos Norte)
