Wounded pygmy killer whale takes refuge off Pasuquin shore

PASUQUIN, Ilocos Norte – Provincial fishery regulatory officer Arthur Valente reported that a pygmy killer whale was found off the shoreline of this town last Aug. 27.

Valente said that after examining the mammal, a gunshot wound appeared at one of its flippers.
He confirmed that the said mammal is considered among the endangered specie.

The Provincial Veterinary Office under Dr. Loida Valenzuela, he said, took custody of the wounded mammal for medical treatment until they released it into the sea the following day.
