Would-be assassins tail Marcos town councilor?

MARCOS, Ilocos Norte, April 9– Councilor Noel Calaoagan of this town expressed fear of insecurity after two suspicious-looking men riding in tandem allegedly tailed his Pajero vehicle he was driving on his way to attend a church wedding ceremony at Brgy. Cacafean here yesterday morning.

In a broadcast interview with Bombo-Laoag, Calaoagan said “the two mysterious strangers in a motorcycle followed me up to the chapel between 8 to 9 a.m. I quickly registered my name as one of the principal sponsors for wedding”.

He said he cut short his stay in the chapel and left the place to attend another wedding rites in a nearby barangay.

While cruising Brgy. Ferdinand, together with three companions aboard his Pajero, he spotted in front of a store the same two strangers in their motorcycle and again the duo tailed their vehicle.

The strangers continued to tail them even he gave way to allow them to overtake, he said. In one instance, the duo’s motorcycle nearly collided with his Pajero as they drove towards their lane.

Sensing danger, he said he drove fast until they reached a populated area where he stopped and waited for police help.(lb/tc)
