Wellness drive aims to boost healthy lifestyle

To promote physical, mental and psychological fitness among the Ilocanos, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte will hold a Wellness seminar on September 6, 2014 at 8 am-12 pm at the Ilocos Norte National High School.
The seminar is made possible by the Public Employment Service Office, Education Department and Sirib Youth Office in partnership with Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association and De La Salle University Counseling and Educational Psychology Department.

The event will be attended by various social welfare officers in the province, representatives from security, safety and health sectors, spiritual advisers, guidance counselors, class advisers and Parent Teacher Association officers of different schools.

The seminar aims to promote and establish a community with active and healthy lifestyle in order to enhance quality of life.

Participants thereafter are expected to educate their constituents and fellow Ilocanos especially the youth.

“We want a holistic approach towards wellness—physically, emotionally and psychologically. The workshops will deal with how we can help each other create a better environment for wellness exercising, meditation and community outreach,” PESO head Nicole Rudio said.

Aware of the increasing depression cases all over the world, Rudio added that they are also aiming to come up with a support group for the entire community in order to ensure promotion of wellness in all aspects of life.—Jennifer T. Pambid, PGIN-CMO
