Various groups join Mangrove planting in Gabut Norte

BADOC, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 30) – More than 4,000 mangrove propagules were planted in 2 hectare coastal area in Brgy. Gabut Norte, this town today.

The activity, in celebration of the 116th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service, was participated in by various organizations including the PENRO, PSA, PNP, Omnico Natural Resources, COA, other national and local agencies, private sectors and the whole community of Gabut Norte.

Dir. Nieves Duldulao, provincial director of CSC, said that the activity was a simple way of preserving the environment.

Gabut Norte Brgy. Chairman Virgilio Calajate was grateful to the organizers for conducting the activity within his barangay. He said that the planting of mangoves in their coastline will greatly benefit his barangaymates living around the area.

Meanwhile, participants also took part in the signing of the covenant for the preservation of marine ecology and for the protection of the environment.(tsg)
