INPPO anti- drug drive nets 134 grams of “shabu”

CAMP JUAN, Laoag City – The Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office headed by Provincial Director PS/Supt. Albert Ocon reported that the “Huliday/Arrest Day” campaign of the PNP has seized a total 134 grams of shabu valued at P809,984 in separate operations during the past week.

In a presscon held here on Dec. 14, 2015, Ocon said that the campaign was implemented in Laoag City, Adams, Pasuquin and Vintar towns from December 7 to 13, 2015.

The operatives also arrested at least 16 suspected illegal drug dealers. Within that period, Ocon said, that 10 buy-bust operations were conducted and 6 search operations.

Ocon told reporters that no cop was hurt during the entire campaign despite that some of the apprehended suspects were armed with guns.

It was learned that some of the arrested suspects yielded cal. 45 pistol, cal. 38 revolvers, cal. 22 revolver and cal. .9mm pistol.

Ocon cited that close coordination and vital information by the force multipliers and community had contributed to the fruitful result of the drive.

Meanwhile, local sources reported that the prevailing rate of shabu is P5,000 from previous P6,000 per gram and that supplies were shipped directly from Metro Manila.

Unlike in the previous police campaign dubbed as “One-Time Big-Time”, the “Huliday/Arrest Day” drive only tapped about 1/4 of the available police force in the whole province, Ocon said. (tsg)
