Usec. Mallari leads turnover of Buted Bridge

By DAR Ilocos Norte

Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Undersecretary Sylvia F. Mallari led the formal turnover of the Buted Bridge to the city government of Laoag.

The construction of the Buted Bridge in Barangay Lataag started on December 5, 2016 and was completed on April 22 this year. It is a 28.80 lineal meter, 2-lane, 1-span steel bridge with approaches on both sides.

The said bridge is a convergence effort of the DAR, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the local government unit of Laoag under the Tulay Ng Pangulo Para Sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo Program (TPKP).

The TPKP involves the construction, installation, and establishment of “universal bridges” (unibridges) in priority Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) and areas covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

USEC Mallari said the Buted Bridge will mainly serve the farming communities in the eastern barangays of Laoag and nearby towns.

“It will promote rural development and increase productivity and income in the area,” she said.

Laoag City Mayor Chevylle V. Farinas expressed her gratitude for the inclusion of Laoag in the TPKP project.
“I hope DAR will implement more projects in our city,” the mayor said.

The turnover was also witnessed by Laoag City Vice Mayor Michael V. Farinas, DPWH Project Director Gil Villanueva, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Vic M. Ines, Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Teresita T. Acang and DAR Chief Administrative Officer Rudy G. Acacio. (Dar Ilocos Norte)
