Jolimar Cachero, 19, and Josephus Casil-Gaoiran, 22, earned high admiration and praises from Gov. Imee Marcos after the two reported to her the incident last June 7, 2014 during the distribution of honorarium to the second batch of tourist aides, nursing aides, and utility personnel employed under the said summer program.

According to Cachero, the incident happened when a foreign tourist left her bag in one corner of the Paoay Lake View Deck in Paoay, Iloos Norte where he and Gaoiran were assigned as tourist aides.

“We saw the bundle of money inside the bag. Our first reaction was to report it to the nearest police station. When the troubled tourist returned to the View Deck looking for her missing bag, we quickly handed it to her, all the money and papers intact,” Cachero explained.

Governor Marcos said the act of honesty shown by the two young men is worth emulating by their fellow youth.

“The two are truly inspiring! Dapat talaga silang tularan lalo na ng mga kabataan. This is a concrete proof that the Ilocano youth have admirable deeds”, Gov. Marcos said.

She stressed that the incident of honesty gave Ilocos Norte a good image in the eyes of all tourists who are planning to visit our province.

“Through this simple act of being honest, we create a consistent image of being friendly and safe province, which attracts more tourists to come and visit Ilocos Norte”, she added.
