SOLSONA, Ilocos Norte (Dec. 20)– Two alleged illegal loggers were apprehended by police operatives here yesterday.
Chief Inspector Doroteo Legaspi Jr., chief of police of said town, identified the suspects as Edgar Ramos, 54, and Edgar Ignacio, 39, both residents of Brgy. Catangraran, of said town.
Legaspi added that seized during the operation were several cut logs of ‘balete’ tree valued at P56,000 and an unlicensed chainsaw.
Legaspi said that they arrested the suspects with the help of an anonymous texter who tipped off about the illegal logging activity.
The two suspects claimed that before they cut the balete tree, they asked permission from the barangay chairman. (edg)
