Two new Fariñas scions turn NPs, may enter local politics

SARRAT, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 10) – Two new faces from the Fariñas’ clan are likely to enter local politics this coming 2013 midyear election.

This speculation cropped up when  Reah Fariñas and Carlos Fariñas, eldest daughter and son of Congressman Rudy Fariñas, respectively took their oath as party members of the Nacionalista Party.

The two young Farinases of Laoag City  took their oath before party leader Senator Manny Villar during the Marcos Day celebration held here. Other town mayors and vice mayors including those from nearby Abra province also turned NP members and joined the mass oathtaking.

At present, Rudy Farinas Jr., 16, also son of Rep.  Fariñas is the incumbent  SK Federated president in the province sitting as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan chaired by Vice Gov.Angelo Barba.

When asked for reaction, last-termer Laoag Mayor Michael Farinas said “he finds no wrong” for his two cousins to join politics. (Theo S. Guiang)
