Two accused in Mayor Pambid slay sentenced to 10-year imprisonment

LAOAG CITY (Sept. 4) – Two of the five accused in the killing of former Marcos town mayor Rogelio Pambid were sentenced to 10-year imprisonment while the three other accused were acquitted.

Judge Benjamin Turgano of RTC Branch 15 found Balbin Gayban and Rodel Saldivar guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of homicide.

The two convicted felons were also ordered to pay a certain amount for moral, exemplary damages and civil indemnity.

Meanwhile, SPO4 Apolonio Medrano and two others were found innocent due to lack of evidence.

It may be recalled that Mayor Pambid was killed by gunmen “riding-in-tandem” on November 16, 2004. (tsg)
