Torch parade held to celebrate World AIDS Day

LAOAG CITY – Some 200 people joined the torch parade conducted around the city thoroughfares here to mark the World’s AIDS Day last December 1, 2015.

Health officials said that there are already 18 individuals living in the province, who are suffering from HIV-virus.

Dr. Rodolfo Ragadi, OIC-Provincial Health Officer said that the province still has the lowest number of HIV patients compared to other provinces in Region 1.

As a part of the continuing program in PHO, his office has been continuously providing information regarding HIV-virus by touring various schools and universities in the province.

He added that aside from these particular disease, they even educate the youth on the issue of early pregnancy, which is among the problems of the youth today.

The parade was participated by city and provincial employees.

A number of entertainers from the city’s “Discolandia” also joined the activity.

One of them appealed to the public that they should not be singled out as the source of this kind of disease.

“Lahat kami ay may license, dumaan kami sa laboratory,” another GRO explained.

This year’s theme Is “Getting to Zero:, 0% discrimination, 0% AIDS-related death, 0% HIV infection”.
