Tiendaan ni Gob’ to kick off IN’s 198th foundation anniversary celebration, to showcase local products

An array of Ilocano products will be showcased through the ‘Tiendaan ni Gob’ at the Ilocos Norte Dap-ayan tomorrow, February 2, 2016 as the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) opens the celebration of the province’s 198th foundation anniversary.

Launched on 2012, the event aims to help local entrepreneurs from the different cities and municipalities promote their products and widen their market reach.

Native products such as suka (vinegar), rice coffee, cornick, dragon fruit, abel (woven) products as well as souvenir items will be exhibited until Friday, February 5.

Governor Imee Marcos said that these kinds of event continue to strengthen local growth towards a real economic development.

As support to local entrepreneurs, PGIN conducts various trainings for them and offers loan assistance to improve their business.

Gov. Marcos also sees ‘Tiendaan ni Gob’ as an opportunity to inspire the Ilocano youth to bring out their entrepreneurial skills and engage in business.

Through the ‘SiriBiz’ (trade fair) to be held on February 5, they will also be given a chance to display and sell their products at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

Since the launching of the bicentennial movement of Ilocos Norte on 2012, Gov. Marcos emphasized that the next generation must be equipped in the transformation of the province in the following years.

Meanwhile, the 198th foundation anniversary will be highlighted by the ‘Open Capitol’ wherein the Provincial Capitol will be opened to the public in order to promote transparency in governance as well as educate them about the programs and services offered by PGIN departments.

Other activities include a mini job fair at the Provincial Capitol Multi-purpose Hall, junior officials mock session and exhibition debate at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Hall and Professional Regulations Commission mobile outreach at the Provincial Auditorium.—Jennifer T. Pambid, PGIN-CMO
