Thief chased, collared by vendor, CSU agents

 

LAOAG CITY, Jan. 27– Jeffrey Rodriguez, 20, of Tondo, Manila was collared by responders who chased him after he stole a handbag of a woman vendor inside the city supermarket here.

A CCTV camera footage showed the fleeing suspect with the stolen bag he hid in a sack.

Bobot Colobong, a male vendor, said he saw the incident prompting him to chase the suspect towards the downstairs where he nearly fell when the suspect resisted.

Colobong said he managed to grab the suspect’s shirt forcing the latter to drop the stolen bag as he continued to run away.

While escaping, two CSU agents joined the chase on the busy street until they cornered the suspect in an eatery where he tried to hide.

When grilled by police investigators, the Tondo boy said his friends brought him to Laoag with the promise that they would recommend him to work as cargo boy in the city market.(tsg w/ report from kl)
