SP passes reso seeking Sept. 11 as non-working holiday in I.N.

LAOAG CITY (Aug. 10) – The Sangguniang Panglalawigan of Ilocos Norte headed by Vice Gov. Angelo Marcos Barba has passed a resolution seeking for the declaration of September 11, birth date of the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos as special non-working holiday in the province of Ilocos Norte.

Barba, cousin of Gov. Imee Marcos, said that the resolution was unanimously approved by the provincial board which seeks President Rodrigo Duterte’s approval to declare the said day as a holiday for the entire province.

He said that if declared, this coming September 11 will be celebrated as President Ferdinand Marcos Day which his 99th birth anniversary.

The celebration will be a fitting tribute to the late President Marcos, considered as one of the province’s most favorite illustrious sons.

As this developed, SP member Juan Conrado Respicio III said that Ilocos Norte representatives Rodolfo Fariñas and Imelda Marcos were asked to sponsor a bill in Congress to institutionalize every September 11 as an annual regular non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte. (tsg)
