Sixteen arrests in Pagudpud town

LAOAG CITY – The Chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) expressed alarm over the report that the town of Pagudpud has the most number of arrests pertaining to illegal cutting of trees.

The report was presented by the Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) in the group’s regular meeting held in Ilocos Sur recently.
Based on the DENR report, it listed Pagudpud as the area having 16 arrests involving the illegal cutting of trees.

The number, which was only recorded at the start of the year, was high compared to other areas in the region where there are only few reported incidents, DENR report says.

As an immediate action, the chairman is set to write a letter to the mayor of said town informing the said report as well as Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos. (Theo S. Guiang)
