S/I Parado denies extortion report

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 22) – Senior Inspector Paul Benedict Parado, town police chief, has vehemently denied an allegation that his men had extorted money to investigate the suspected  Sept. 8 carnapping incident here.
Parado said no extortion took place when his police probers conducted an investigation on the suspected carnapping case.
The police station has its own  financial resources, hence, the investigators use them when they investigate reported crime cases, he explained.
He said the bribery report was false and baseless that was probably concocted by their detractors to ruin the good image of the Paoay police station under his leadership. (Theo S. Guiang)
