Senator Bongbong Marcos visits ancestral home in Batac, seeks for ‘Solid North’ support

Senator Bongbong Marcos on Friday, October 16, 2015 goes back to his roots in Ilocos Norte by visiting his family’s ancestral home in Batac City.

The senator recalls how visiting the ancestral home in Batac City brings luck to the past political endeavors of his father, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Moreover, Senator Marcos was the seventh person who filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Tuesday, October 13, believing that it was a ‘good omen’ as the Marcoses believe in the luck that the number seven brings into their family.

Meanwhile, the visit also coincides with Senator Marcos seeking for an all-out support from the Ilocanos, ensuring one ‘Solid North’ vote for him.

The ‘Solid North’ is the bloc vote delivered by Ilocanos or the preference of Ilocanos to deliver votes for a fellow Ilocano.

Speaking during the luncheon he hosted at the Malacanang of the North in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Senator Marcos said that “every great voyage must start at home.”

“You cannot start a national campaign, on this voyage, if your home province is not behind you and this is the place where it is proper that I begin,” noted Senator Marcos.

In an earlier interview, Governor Imee R. Marcos expressed her gratitude to the Ilocanos for the early support they have shown to the political bid of her brother, noting “that it is a wonderful opportunity to be an Ilocano this upcoming election.”
