Samtoy scouts Ilocano art talents

LAOAG CITY, Dec. 11 (PIA) – A homegrown bookstore in Ilocos Norte has tapped anew Ilocano artists to showcase local ingenuity and talent in the 2nd T-shirt Festival on December 8, 2014.

Samtoy which means “Sao Mi Ditoy” (Our Dialect Here) is a bookstore that helps scout local talents for arts and culture through a mini festival for the arts.

Now on its second year, the T-Shirt festival which was participated in by about 15 Ilocano graphic artists had heightened Ilocano fever to embrace local talents and artsy expression.

The T-shirts were personalized and designed with the theme “I Love Ilocos Norte” showcasing the province’s tourism spots in support to the tourism industry here.

Gee Foronda Diaros, Samtoy manager said that the t-shirt festival invited young artists to help them open up themselves, achieve and embrace their own talents.

With the cooperation of Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the local artists were able to turn as young entrepreneurs by gaining profit from selling their art works.

Aside from exhibits, local bands and ‘Ilocano Got Talent’ performances also entertained the crowd including domestic and foreign tourists who joined the festival. (Cherry Joy D. Garma with James Sacalamito-PIA Intern, PIA)
