LAOAG CITY, May 28–P/Supt. Jeffrey Gorospe pulled a hanky and wiped his teary eyes as he confirmed the untimely death of his rookie policeman identified as PO1 Noriel Cordova who met a road accident in Brgy. Nangalisan, this city at about 6 o’clock this morning.
Investigators said Cordova, a resident of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, was driving his motorcycle en route to the Laoag police station for duty when an Isuzo Elf truck carrying live animals collided with his motorbike.
The strong impact threw him with his head hitting the concrete pavement. He wore a crush helmet. Truck driver Christopher Asuncion claimed that the victim’s motorcycle suddenly swerved to his lane. “I tried to avoid the collision but it was too late,” he told reporters.(tsg/jg/al/bbr)
