LAOAG CITY (Dec. 18) – As the Dec. 21 deadline for substitution gets nearer, political maneuvering too in this city gets interesting as lawyer Kris Ablan joined the vice mayoral race under the banner of mayoral candidate, former city mayor Roger Farinas, whose niece-in-law Chevylle Farinas is also running for city mayor.
It is ironic that Ablan is now the running mate of Roger Farinas, whose nephew Carlos Farinas is also running for vice mayor under separate party. Carlos is the son of Rep. Rudy Farinas, younger brother of Roger.
It may be noted that ex-SP member Kris Ablan is the son of former Congressman Roque Ablan, Jr., a long-time political arch enemy of the Farinases.
Lately, the young Ablan availed of the substitution by filing his Certificate of Candidacy at the Commission on Election (COMELEC) Office, replacing a relative who initially filed for vice mayorship of the city.
Rep. Fariñas expressed his dismay over the Roger Farinas-Kris Ablan tandem because Kris Ablan opposed him and lost in the last congressional elections. (Theo Guiang)
