Quake jolts Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY, Nov. 3 – A 4.0 magnitude quake rocked Ilocos Norte on Sunday night but caused no damage to property, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Porferio De Peralta, Phivolcs researcher based in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, said the tremor, which occurred at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, was mild to cause damages.

He said the quake’s epicenter was located at 15 kilometers northwest of Laoag City with a depth of 29 kilometers.

“Intensity 2 was felt in Paoay, Ilocos Norte and Laoag City. No aftershock followed,” he said. (MCA/FGL, PIA)
