PRC holds first nurses exam in Laoag

LAOAG CITY, July 3 — The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Baguio Regional Office successfully conducted the Nurses Licensure Examinations (NLE) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on June 30 and July 1.

It was the first time it was held in Ilocos Norte.

Evangeline Vergara, area coordinator, said no untoward incident took place during the conduct of the examinations.

“It was very smooth. It was under tight security as provided for by the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation,” Vergara said.

The conduct of the NLE in Laoag was supported by the city government led by Mayor Michael Farinas, the Philippine Nurses Association-Laoag City Chapter, PNP, NBI, Department of Education, City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) and Ilocos Norte National High School (INNHS).

PRC Regional Director Teofilo Gaius Sison Jr. expressed his gratitude for the support and commended the institutions.

Vergara said Laoag City will be a venue again for the NLE on December.

“The PRC decided to hold the exams here due to clamor from parents who saw the difficulty of their children travelling long distance to either La Union or Baguio to take the exams. This time, it was convenient for the examinees,” she said.

The NLE was also conducted in Baguio; Dagupan in Pangasinan; and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija.

There were 1,419 examinees from Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and some parts of Cagayan, who took the NLE at the MMSU and INNHS in Laoag City. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
