POLICE CHIEF REJECTS BRIBE MONEY

BADOC, Ilocos Norte, Dec. 30–Police Chief Laurel Gayya proved himself as an honest man. Shortly after a drug buy-bust operation caught a suspected shabu dealer, he received a phone call offering him half a million pesos bribe money in exchange for the non-filing of criminal charges against the suspect. A man of principle, Inspector Gayya turned down the offer outright and vowed to pursue the case against the suspect. When the news on Gayya’s rejection of bribe money broke out over the radio broadcast, praises for him poured in. One reactor said “may the tribe of Inspector Gayya increase.” Another reactor said “Inspector Gayya is a role model of honesty and integrity, two moral values needed in the police service”.
