Plane Crash Lands near LIA

LAOAG CITY (Nov. 27) – A Cessna plane crash landed in the vicinity of a residential area near the Laoag International Airport here, LIA General Manager Ronald Estavillo reported.

Estavillo said that the aircraft, with registry number RP-C1735 and piloted by Capt. Joseph Mijares, came from Zambales.

He said that the strong winds at the airport might have caused the pilot to lose control of the plane.

The Cessna plane, owned by All Asia Aviation Academy, a training school for would-be pilots, is based in Iba, Zambales.

The pilot explained that he tried to land the plane at the LIA but it overshot the runway causing the airplane to fall at the rip- rap concrete wall. The pilot sustained bruises and the aircraft’s engine was damaged. (edg)
