SAN FERNANDO CITY, May 11 (PIA) – Pursuant to the government’s mandate to ensure all appropriate means to eliminate discrimination against women, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) sectors, the Philippine Information Agency in Ilocos conducted the annual gender-responsive events.

This year, the PIA held a Gender and Development (GAD) Forum dubbed “GAD Talk: Gender Equality and Social Inclusiveness” on May 12, here. Some 35 individuals from the said sectors participated in the event.

The participants will be empowered and well-informed about the different programs, projects, and activities implemented by the government for gender equality and social inclusiveness,” said regional Director Jennilyne C. Role.

She added, “To promote GAD in the grassroots level, the participants were directly involved in their particular barangays and organizations.”

Resource speakers from the regional offices of the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Public Attorney’s Office discussed and answered queries on issues related to HIV-AIDS, solo parenting, women’s health, and laws on women and children.
