PGIN opens application for ‘Asikaso ni Manang Imee’ Tuition for Work Program for public college students

As part of its continuing support to families affected by super typhoon ‘Lawin,’ the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) opened applications anew for the Asikaso ni Manang Imee Tuition-for-Work Program to students of state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the province.

Filing of application for the said program started last December 22, 2016 and will end on January 14 next year.

It may be recalled that ‘Asikaso ni Manang Imee’ Tuition-for-Work Program was first launched on October 28 for private college students in time for their enrollment schedules.

Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO) Executive Director James Ceasar Ventura encourages students of Mariano Marcos State University, the only SUC in the province, to file their application for the said program before classes resume on January 16, 2017 to fill the remaining slots.

“This December, we already received some applications. With that, we are inviting every student of  Mariano Marcos State University who was affected by the typhoon Lawin,” said Ventura.

Applicants must submit the following to avail of the program: Forms (available at INYDO and downloadable at Sirib Express facebook page) containing the letter of intent, and certification of the barangay and municipal social welfare and development office that their families were affected by super typhoon ‘Lawin’.

Qualified applicants will receive PHP 3,000 on the said semester with a payback of 100 hours of community service to the PGIN and its projects.

Ventura affirmed that beneficiaries of the said program will increase by Academic Year 2017 – 2018.

Aside from providing financial assistance, the ‘Asikaso ni Manang Imee’ Tuition-for-Work Program aims to provide an avenue for Ilocano youth to socialize and build social capital among themselves to strengthen the entire community in times of emergencies and disasters. – (Radz B. Bismonte, PGIN-CMO)
