PGIN conducts job fair to boost employment for Ilocos Norte’s 198th foundation anniversary

Attuned to its goal of increasing employment and subsequently eliminating poverty, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) will conduct a Mini Job Fair on February 5 at the Provincial Auditorium.

Local and national companies are expected to screen and hire applicants on the spot, in search of potential employees in the fields of sales and marketing, information technology, engineering, healthcare, human resource, and more.

The job fair is part of a series of activities celebrating the 198th Foundation Anniversary of Ilocos Norte.

With the province’s 200th anniversary only two years away, the bicentennial movement towards becoming “The Best Little Province in the Country IN2020” has become more aggressive as Gov. Imee R. Marcos continues pushing for more programs boosting job creation, poverty alleviation, tourism, youth empowerment, and agricultural growth.

Despite having brought more than a 1500% increase in employment (3% in 2010 to 50.78% in latest records), PGIN continues striving to provide job opportunities for all Ilocanos in a bid to eliminate poverty in Ilocos Norte, which fell from 24% in 2010 to 8.4% in 2015.

“Herein lies our true wealth — Ilocos Norte may not be the richest or biggest or most highly-developed province, but social capital endows every Ilocano with a devoted family, community networks, a world-wide safety net of relationships,” Gov. Imee had said in her last State of the Province Address, and to this day she reflects this culture oftimpuyog (unity) in her endeavors through PGIN to build better lives for all in Ilocos Norte. —Mizpah Grace G.
